I made this DIY book clutch following this tutorial, but with a few changes: I added two ribbons so that I could close it with a bow rather than a clasp, and I cut out the last page of the book before gluing it all together so that I could use it to "line" the hole in the middle. It was super easy to make and took maybe 2 hours all in all. The book is a gorgeous leather bound edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - I got mine from Amazon for like, 9£.
Mine's big enough to hold a powder compact, lipgloss, some cash and my keys, but I guess if you got a bigger book to begin with you could easily fit more in there.
My absence from the blogging world has been a bit longer than I intended it to be, but my bucket list for this break was long and I wanted to really have my business in order before I returned to the internet. The lovely weather lately left me feeling a bit... hmmm, frisky maybe, and now I can't wait to bring out the pastels, sandals and all things I couldn't wear during the winter - I'll return to posting my ootds regularly soon!
Thanks for sticking around during my mini-hiatus, and Hi to all new followers! :)
Awww, that's such a pretty bag! TBH, I couldn't stand destroying a book no matter what (not that I mind you did though), so I don't think I'll be trying this, but it's super pretty! I wish the spring came already, today I almost froze to death while taking outfit pictures and I was taking them in a coat - it's below zero again >.< So meanwhile I'll be looking forward to your pastel outfits :)
ReplyDeleteI honestly felt bad when I started cutting around in that book so I decided I'll go and buy another copy to keep on my bookshelf. I don't even know why it feels so weird to do anything with books except reading them? ^.^
DeleteThank you Vita :)
That is adorable! What a brilliant idea! I would also feel a little bad about cutting up a book, but it's still really pretty and I like it :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the most amazing thing ever! I'm so in love with this idea... I may have to do this with one of those beautiful cloth bound copies with the flamingos on it! I love Alice in Wonderland. Fantastic idea, Nita, and a big welcome back. You've been missed but it sounds like you've been having lots of good times lately and that's always a great thing! :) xx
ReplyDeletehey you! it is a pretty idea, but i too have a fixation for books, i found some abandoned books once in a street without their covers and i rescued them?! roll on the warm weather i say x
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see you back posting, my gorgeous Nita.
