Dorothy Perkins peplum skirt, New Look shoes, sweater from my Buni (that's a romanian grandma) earrings from Girlprops.com
I sort of got tired of the whole peplum thing before it even really started and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. Not to be one of those folks who go against trends just for the sake of it, but it was just too much in my opinion.
Then I saw this skirt and well, the fabric is just so pretty and I was sure I could find a way to wear it without looking boring/desperately trendy, so I gave it a try.
I took the whole thing into an ~80's glam direction, with this very sparkly lurex sweater and big door-knocker earrings.
I have mixed feelings about the result: it's not a bad outfit, I especially like the textures, but the peplum part is still just too predictable, too now. Oh well, maybe in a few months (or years) when the whole trend has died down I can give this skirt another try... (anyone remember hi-lo hems?)
That being said, I just love this sweater. It's instant 80's and so sparkly and doesn't show any wear, despite probably being older than I am. Love!
That's all for today, merci beaucoup for visiting and see you soon :)
I really love this outfit. The combination of brocade and lurex is amazing.:)
ReplyDeleteUnlike you, I really have a thing for peplum, probably because I can't wear it...Who knows?
Love,

Yeah, the textures are what I liked best about this^^ Thank you Diana! :)
DeleteLOVE this look, Nita. Shame that you're bored of peplum, because it suits you REALLY well.

Yeah I have to admit I like the way I look in it, I just maybe need a bit of time to accept it^^
DeleteThank you so much for all your comments Terry!

ReplyDeleteThis is the type of thing I'll make you wear once you get your butt back to the old world, jsyk.
DeleteYusssssssssss
DeleteI was just thinking earlier how fed up I am of seeing peplums everywhere. It seems that Dorothy Perkins are about 75% peplums right now. Most are just a little too formal and boring for my liking, though I've liked the odd piece.
ReplyDeleteI do love the skirt on you, though, and I LOVE the print, texture, and colours. It's so pretty. I think it works so well with the top :)
Once again we have the same taste in things^^ thank you Louise, I'm glad to hear you like my version :)
DeleteYou remind me a bit of Fran from, oh, that nanny comedy series, she was always chic and wore lots of either colorful or sparkly things. I really like the pumps with it. I'm really self-conscious about my hips, so I wouldn't touch peplum skirts even if they were the only thing in the shops, but I got a peplum shirt from my mum and it would be nice it if wasn't from HM, which means I washed it once and the hem became totally awry. But I plan to make a high-low hem skirt for summer, because I really liked them. :)
ReplyDeleteFran Fine! I love her!!! Thank you so much Vita^^
DeleteYou look beautiful! That skirt is so so amazing! Kisses x x x
